Learning a new playbook won’t be the only challenge that American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) senior defensive back Ty Caldwell faces entering his senior year.

“It’s gonna be really weird going to a different school, but it’s been good,” Caldwell said. “I’ve met a lot of new people already.”

Caldwell, a two-way standout at Oxbridge Academy, transferred to American Heritage over the summer. To his credit, Caldwell didn’t let the ongoing transitions keep him from recording three catches for 72 yards in last week’s 44-7 blowout victory over Calvary Christian Academy.

The duo of Caldwell and junior quarterback Marcus Stracke had the Stallions up 37-0 at halftime, allowing younger players to take the field earlier than expected.

“That connection with Marcus and the whole team has gotten way better, especially because I just got in about two or three weeks ago,” Caldwell told Legacy Library.

Caldwell had 61 receptions for 773 yards and nine touchdowns at Oxbridge last year. He also proved invaluable on defense, recording 67 tackles (four going for a loss), two interceptions, including a pick-six, and a forced fumble.

Clearly, those in Palm Beach County noticed, as Keiser offered Caldwell a scholarship this past April. The Seahawks have reached four consecutive NAIA championship games, defeating Northwestern College (Iowa) in 2023 for their first title in program history.

Caldwell and the Stallions continue their season at Somerset Academy on Thursday night.

“Expect a lot from me,” Caldwell said.
