Davis recently committed to the Chanticleers, where he’ll be a full-time tight end. As of July 15, he’s among 18 commits in what is quickly turning out to be a loaded 2027 signing class.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Davis said Coastal tight ends coach Ronnie Fouch aggressively recruited him throughout the spring.

“They’re already well connected,” Davis told Legacy Library. “They really want to win and build [up] Coastal.”

Davis, who recorded 30 catches, 454 yards, and five touchdowns as a junior, has had a busy few months. Initially, Florida International offered Davis as a wide receiver, a position he’s spent much of his career playing.

He’s since been working through transitioning to tight end, where he’ll look to use his size and speed to torment opposing defenses.

“Just trying to be coachable,” Davis said of his mindset. “Trying to learn all the right techniques, and still being athletic, being the dog I was as a receiver.”

The opportunity to play for Fouch, a former Washington and Indiana State quarterback, also appealed to Davis. Fouch spent the last two years as Arkansas’ wide receivers coach, working with 2024 SEC receiving leader Andrew Armstrong and 2025 third-round draft pick Isaac TeSlaa.

“I’m ready to work on being a gamechanger,” Davis said.

Davis and the Golden Rams are fresh off an 8-3 season, which ended with a playoff loss to American Heritage-Plantation. John Carroll has won double-digit games in three of the last four years.

We’ll see the new-look Davis in action when John Carroll opens its 2026 campaign against Bishop Verot on Aug. 21.

Elsewhere, the Chanticleers begin their season at West Virginia on Sept. 5. Coastal Carolina has made six consecutive bowl games and is entering its first year under former Missouri State coach Ryan Beard.
