The pride and joy in Boswell High School (Texas) defensive lineman Ola-Oluwa Orebe’s voice is evident when you talk to him.
More than anything, the newest North Texas football commit is simply thankful.
“It still doesn’t feel real,” Orebe said. “At this time last year, I was praying to God, I’m working my butt off 24/7, and I would like to be a Division I athlete.”
Orebe officially pledged to the Mean Green on Monday, joining what is already a loaded 2027 recruiting class.
North Texas has had four players — Orebe, athlete Isaiah Rasheed (Atascocita, Texas), tight end Gavin Mandrell (Denison, Texas), and defensive linemen Ayden Koehn (Cheney, Kansas) — verbally commit since Sunday.
Orebe’s recruitment didn’t take off until February, when Rice reached out and offered him a scholarship.
“I stayed down, I prayed, and now I’m here,” Orebe said. “I’m just in the moment, soaking [up] the moment, and I’m grateful to God for the opportunity.”
According to his 247 Sports page, Orebe drew at least 10 Division I offers, including from in-state FBS schools Texas State, UTEP, and UTSA.
Orebe said he believes he has made significant improvements to his power and strength, specifically his hand striking.
“I’m God-fearing, and I never give up, no matter what the situation is,” Orebe told Legacy Library. “I love God, I love my family, and I love football.”
The 2026 Early Signing Period is expected to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 4. Players who sign their letter of intent during that period can then enroll early.
Orebe and Boswell kick off the 2026 season against Saginaw on August 28.
