Plenty of us didn’t really have college on our minds when we started our junior year of high school.
Don’t tell that to Callaway High School (Ga.) junior quarterback Adrian Williams, who spent last weekend attending East Carolina’s home opener against Appalachian State.
Although the Mountaineers triumphed, it nonetheless continued what’s been a packed month for the 5-foot-10, 165-pound Williams. Callaway has already played three games, and the dynamic quarterback commands an explosive Cavaliers offense.
“I think we have what it takes as a team and a coaching staff to make a very deep run in the playoffs,” Williams told Legacy Library.
Williams enters Friday’s showdown with Southwest (0-3) having totaled 460 yards and three touchdowns from scrimmage. He’s capable of beating teams with his arms and his legs, and he even caught a 16-yard pass in an Aug. 28 loss to Bowdon.

Calling Williams a dual-threat football player is doing him a disservice. He averaged 11 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.1 steals for the varsity basketball team last year.
Don’t read too much into the Cavaliers’ 1-2 start, either. They kept tight with Whitewater in a 10-point loss on Sept. 4, and the undefeated Wildcats are currently ranked No. 91 among Georgia teams on MaxPreps.
Williams has already earned a Rhode Island offer, and we envision he’ll have even more attention coming his way.
“You have to be a leader and be the best version of yourself,” Williams said. “Everyone leads in their own way. Just be positive and keep pushing the ones around you.”
