UAB redshirt junior defensive back Darrell Sweeting helped the Blazers pick up their first win of the 2026 season this past Saturday afternoon.
Sweeting finished with four tackles, including two solo stops, in UAB’s 26-20 victory over Louisiana-Monroe. The Blazers rallied for 16 unanswered points and took a 23-20 lead with 9:34 left. UAB got the ball back with 5:50 and promptly went on an 11-play, 41-yard drive that lasted 4:40 and ended in Jonah Delange’s 42-yard field goal.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Sweeting has nine tackles through two games this season. He opened the year with five tackles, including three solo, against Illinois.
Sweeting and UAB will travel to face Louisiana (1-1) on Sept. 19.
