If Westminster Academy (Fla.) junior receiver Drew Barbar had a “Madden” card, he’d have already long surpassed the 99 overall mark.
Barbar has spent the last month making opposing secondaries question just how effective their film studies are. He had 10 catches for 287 yards and two touchdowns in last Friday’s 44-10 rout of Glades Day.

Through four games, Barbar leads the country with 751 receiving yards. He also has six touchdowns, and his 36 catches rank second behind only Hope Christian High School (N.M.) senior Darrien Williams and Sandpoint High School (Idaho)’s Brock Yarbrough, both of whom have 37 as of Sept. 8.
“I’ve been blessed by our coaching staff to have the availability to play the game to my strengths, which has allowed me to have big games that benefit the team,” Barbar told Legacy Library.
Barbar praised quarterback Aiden Wallhoff for playing with “confidence and poise” in his first season as a starter. The freshman signal-caller has completed 63.5% of his passes for 1,587 yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
The 6-foot, 165-pound Barbar has also drilled all 21 extra-point tries. He’s quickly putting himself in a position to attract significant attention from colleges, especially in the South Florida recruiting hotbed.
Westminster (3-1) is off this week and plays at Master’s Academy Vero Beach (0-2) on Sept. 18.
