Highly-touted Phelps School (Penn.) guard Caden Ivery is headed to the Ivy League.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Ivery pledged to Cornell last weekend, becoming the first member of the Big Red’s 2027 recruiting class. The Big Red initially offered him in late June.
“It has really started to kick in now that I know where I’m going,” Ivery told Legacy Library. “It’s a big relief as well.”
As of Aug. 6, 247 Sports considers Ivery a three-star prospect and Pennsylvania’s No. 7 prospect. When factoring in the composite rankings, Ivery jumps up to a four-star prospect and Pennsylvania’s No. 3 prospect regardless of position.
Ivery praised Cornell’s staff and the “overall camaraderie” they showed throughout the recruiting process.
“I felt as if it was genuine,” Ivery said. “They really feel like I can come in and make an impact on their program.”
Incredibly, 247 Sports already considers Ivery the top recruit in Cornell history, with his 89 score easily topping Ryan Burbach, a 2025 three-star recruit with an 85 recruiting score.
Burbach is entering his second year at Cornell, setting up the possibility that he and Ivery will share a backcourt next season.
Ivery would join Cornell at a perfect time, as the Big Red seek their sixth consecutive winning season and first NCAA tournament appearance since their thrilling run to the 2010 Elite Eight.
“I’m a winner,” Ivery said. “And I’m gonna compete for as long as it takes to win.”
