Rangeview High School (Colo.) two-way lineman Biram Griffey is preparing for his senior season by learning from the best.
In recent months, Griffey has had the opportunity to work out with multiple college assistant coaches, including South Dakota’s James Bain and Kansas State’s Christian Ellsworth.
“I’ve [gotten] pretty well at getting to the second level,” said Griffey, a multi-year starting tackle. “On double teams, blocking that linebacker, that’s something I’m really good at whenever they’re running the ball my way.”
Colleges have clearly noticed the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Griffey’s excellence in the trenches, with him recently receiving offers from Colorado State University Pueblo and Fort Lewis College.
Griffey earned All-Front South League first-team offensive line and second-team defensive line honors as a junior.
“I don’t get moved out of my gap, no matter how many people are blocking me,” Griffey said. “I might not always get past the linemen, but they can’t really move me, and I’m always in the play. Whenever it’s a pass block, I’m driving that line.”
Rangeview credited Griffey with three tackles for a loss last year. He’s part of a stacked defense that brings back senior linebacker Terrance Jones Jr. (18 tackles for loss) and limited opponents to 15 or fewer points in all five wins last year.
Griffey said that Wyoming has mainly recruited him to play defensive line, whereas CSU Pueblo offered him a scholarship to play offensive line.
Griffey and Rangeview open the 2026 season at Doherty on Aug. 28. The Raiders seek their first winning record since going 7-3 in 2014.
“I’m not gonna give up,” Griffey said. “I feel like I’ve been pretty underrated my whole career. But I don’t let that deter me.”
