As the wins pile up for Iowa Central, the offers continue to come in for standout offensive lineman Michael Smith II.
Smith announced that Chicago State became the last school to officially offer him a scholarship. The Cougars are in their inaugural season as an FCS independent and will play in the Northeast Conference next season.
Chicago State is the Windy City’s only Division I football program, and they’ve already won their first game; the Cougars notched a 78-7 victory over NAIA Kentucky Christian University on Sept. 12.

As of publication, 247Sports has Smith ranked as the No. 1 junior college offensive tackle in the country and the No. 5 junior college player overall. He has primarily drawn interest from schools in the Sun Belt and the American, even spending time at UAB earlier this summer.
The 2026 Early Signing Period is expected to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 4. Players who sign their letter of intent during that period can then enroll early.
