If you’ve never experienced North Carolina in the fall, you’ll need to give Woodruff High School (S.C.) wide receiver/tight end MiCah McClintock a call.
McClintock announced his verbal commitment to Appalachian State on Monday night. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound offensive weapon joins a loaded 2027 recruiting class that currently ranks No. 67 on 247Sports’ rankings.
The announcement came after McClintock attended App State’s 55-3 rout of Maine last Saturday.
“It’s nothing like the mountains,” McClintock told Legacy Library. “I loved it as soon as I stepped on campus.”

McClintock reopened his recruitment in August after initially committing to FAU. He’d already accumulated nearly 20 offers from Division I programs, including ACC rivals North Carolina and Louisville. He visited Bill Belichick and the Tar Heels in June.
“I’ve met a lot of coaches and been a lot of places,” he said, “and nothing compared to how I felt about App State.”
The 2026 Early Signing Period is expected to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 4. Players who sign their letter of intent during that period can then enroll early.
McClintock recorded 13 catches for 271 yards and four touchdowns in his first three games. Woodruff (2-1) continues its season against Union County (0-3) on Friday night.
