Ask Marcus Stracke about his mindset going into the 2026 season, and he’s more than happy to provide the vivid imagery.
“We’re gonna come out and punch them in their throat,” Stracke told Legacy Library.
American Heritage consistently chose that route last year, and opposing defenses certainly felt the pain. Stracke completed 67% of his passes for 3,026 yards, 39 touchdowns, and four interceptions as a sophomore. The Stallions defeated West Nassau in the Sunshine State Athletic Association (SSAA) Atlantic State Championship.
American Heritage had not won a state championship since 2011, when it still competed in the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Stracke’s brilliant season caught the attention of Samford and FIU, the latter of which gave him his first FBS scholarship. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound quarterback told Legacy Library that he and FIU offensive coordinator Nick Coleman have already forged a strong bond.
“You have a good year, produce, and then hopefully schools pull the trigger,” Stracke said.
Stracke is already off to a strong start, going 17-of-24 (70.8%) for 320 yards, one touchdown, and an interception in last Friday’s 44-7 rout of Calvary Christian Academy.
Stracke and the Stallions continue their season at Somerset Academy on Thursday night. American Heritage put up nearly 450 yards of offense in a game that was 37-0 at halftime.
“I’m not scared of any team or any player,” Stracke said. “You already know that we’re coming out every game with the same mindset each time.”
