College Football: Arkansas-Pine Bluff RB Jaylen Jennings Runs for 98 Yards in Double-Overtime Thriller

Arkansas-Pine Bluff senior running back Jaylen Jennings ran for 98 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries Saturday night, but the Golden Lions fell to Alcorn State 53-51 in a wild double-overtime Southern Heritage Classic.

Jennings averaged 6.1 yards per carry and broke off an 18-yard touchdown in the second overtime, but UAPB (1-2) could not convert its two-point attempt after the score.

The 5-foot-10, 210-pound Jennings has already rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns on 4.9 yards per carry. He totaled nearly 1,000 yards (839 rushing, 157 receiving) and 11 touchdowns from scrimmage last year.

He will look to build on Saturday’s performance when Arkansas-Pine Bluff returns home to face Central State University (1-2) on Sept. 19.
