Referring to American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) offensive lineman Dom Swanson as “aggressive” in the trenches is, put kindly, an understatement.
“I want everybody to be scared,” Swanson told Legacy Library.
With a mindset like that, it’s no wonder Jeff Monken and Army were so high on Swanson during the recruiting process. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound interior lineman committed to the Black Knights last month and is among the 50 players who have already pledged to begin their college careers at West Point.
Army remains among the most consistent mid-major FBS programs, rattling off six consecutive non-losing seasons entering the 2026 campaign. The Black Knights have only finished under .500 once since the start of 2016.
“It’s a school of excellence, and I’m just very excited about my future there,” Swanson said.
In the present, Swanson and the Stallions are off to a 2-0 start following a 49-12 blowout win over Somerset Academy-Pembroke Pines on Thursday night. With Swanson leading the way in the trenches, American Heritage has already scored 93 points in two games.
Unfortunately for opponents, Swanson believes what we’ve seen thus far isn’t even the tip of the iceberg.
“We’ve got a lot of young guys, but I feel like they’re definitely gonna progress as the season goes on,” Swanson said.
Swanson and American Heritage return to the field next Friday against Somerset Academy-Silver Palms.
