ABOUT

Born in New York, Jake Elman realized from an early age that he loved to tell stories.

As a teenager, Jake began his sportswriting career at 15 years old, blogging primarily about his beloved Yankees and Jets. Ahead of his junior year of high school, Jake had an opportunity to begin writing about his high school football team for a local newspaper.

By 2016, Jake had moved to Florida and was covering high school football and Florida Atlantic sports for both FAU Owl Access and The Palm Beach Post. He became the Post’s FAU beat writer in 2017 and remained in that role through March 2020.

Along the way, Jake focused on far more than box scores, breaking scoops, and covering the news of the day. He cultivated relationships with players, coaches, and families for his belief that every player, whether they were NFL-bound or a walk-on fighting for a scholarship, had a story worth sharing.

Jake founded Legacy Library in 2026 with the same mindset.

A 2019 graduate of Florida Atlantic’s journalism program, Jake and his Jack Russell, Winnie, live in Boynton Beach, Fla.
