When he committed to North Texas last month, wide receiver Isaiah “Rocket” Rasheed still had one extra goal on his mind.
By his own admission, the Atascocita High School (Texas) standout checked 247 Sports for roughly two months. He remained an unranked, zero-star prospect despite committing to an FBS program.
Then came July 9, and Rasheed quickly shared the news with the world. He’d finally received a 3-star ranking, and 247 Sports also considered him a top-200 prospect in Texas.
“I was just proud of myself for getting this far with my football journey,” Rasheed told Legacy Library. “Rankings don’t really matter to me, but it’s definitely a good feeling to be noticed and know you’re a top player in the country.”
The 6-foot, 175-pound Rasheed is fully recovered from last year’s collarbone injury, and his speed remains his calling card. He won a gold medal in the triple jump at the 6A Regional Track Meet in May.
Rasheed and Atascocita open the 2026 season against Katy on Saturday, Aug. 29. Last year marked only the second time since 2015 that the Eagles failed to win at least 10 games.
“With all of the talent loaded onto our team this year, I don’t see why we wouldn’t make a run all the way for the state championship,” Rasheed said.
North Texas fans waiting for Rasheed to put pen to paper must wait a little longer. The 2026 Early Signing Period is expected to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 4. Players who sign their letter of intent during that period can then enroll early.
