So much for the concerns about Nico Salas and the Bishop Moore Catholic (Fla.) Hornets being doomed following an 0-2 start.
Salas, who handles placekicking and kickoff duties, had another strong showing in Friday’s 55-0 dismantling of Deltona. He converted five extra-point attempts for the Hornets, who have won four straight and outscored foes 173-27 over that stretch.
The reliable senior also averaged 57.9 yards on six kickoff attempts.

Salas is 23-of-26 (88.4%) on extra points and averages 63.6 yards per kickoff. For what it’s worth, NFL kickers averaged roughly 60 yards per kickoff through the season’s first two weeks.
Air Force previously offered Salas a scholarship earlier this summer. The 2026 Early Signing Period is expected to begin Wednesday, Dec. 2, and run through Friday, Dec. 4. Players who sign their letter of intent during that period can then enroll early.
Salas and Bishop Moore Catholic are off next week before facing Winter Springs (1-4) on Oct. 9.
